Conservative Analyst: Gonzales’ Chances of Survival As A.G. “Slim to None”
When a well-respected researcher at a conservative think tank in Washington known for cranking out Bush-friendly positions and endorsements calls U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ chances of surving in office “slim to none,” it looks like the Texas lawyer’s days are numbered.
Norman Ornstein, a political analyst at the American Enterprise Institute, told ABC News that “the chances of the attorney general surviving this, I think, are slim to none — and slim just left the building.”
Ornstein’s work on campaign finance law played a key role in the McCain/Feingold campaign finance reform law that was argued before the U.S. Supreme Court in McConnell v. F.E.C. The Justices upheld most provisions of the law in a 5-4 ruling in 2003.
Any American lawyers out there looking for a job as the country’s top federal prosecutor?
This blawg encourages comments from attorneys around the country about who they think the next U.S. Attorney General should be.
Don’t be shy now, y’all.
