Bush Stands By His Lawman: Gonzales Watch Predicts 90% Chance of Resignation by March 27th

Tammy Wynette must be on Bush’s Oval Office iPod playlist this morning.

Reports are coming in from the left, the right, and center saying that George W. Bush is standing by his legal man, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales:

That’s why this blog is putting a little more stock in the authoritative research tool relied upon by the WSJ’s Washington Wire: Irish bookmaker Intrade.

At 4:38 p.m. GMT today, here were the odds that Intrade betters were making on Gonzo’s resignation from the top lawyer position for the White House:

  • Resign By March 31, 2007: 39.5%
  • Resign by June 30, 2007: 69.5%
  • Resign by Sept. 30, 2007: 70.0%
  • Resign by Dec. 3, 2007: 98.0%

This blog things these guesstimates are too conservative. Gonzales Watch predicts that there’s a 90% chance that the mounting investigations and political fiasco will force U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign by no later than March 27, 2007.
