The previously scheduled House Committee on the Judiciary hearing to consider whether or not Monica Goodling should be granted immunity in the U.S. Attorney firings scandal has been postponed.
Goodling was Senior Counsel to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and the Dept. of Justice’s liasion to the White House. She is believed to have knowledge about what, if any, political overtures may have been made by White House officials, including Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, in the decision to fire career federal prosecutors.
The Committee’s Chair Rep. John Conyers (Dem. - Mich.) agreed to postpone the hearing at the request of ranking minority member Rep. Lamar Smith (Rep. - Texas).
